Three Ways to Get a Winterfolk Gig – How we Select Our Talent
1. |
Artistic Director Committee |
About 100 Artists Will Be Selected by AD TeamWe have a team of three people on the AD committee, Beverley Kreller, Laura Fernandez, and Brian Gladstone, who decide on the talent as a group. The AD committee will select and hire approximately 100 known artists based on a variety of criteria, for which the top level consideration is artists that best fit the festival programming themes. (This varies every year). Although we hire artists from at least four provinces or territories outside Ontario, our focus is on southern Ontario talent. We look for topical artists who are working hard to perfect their artform, and especially those who are creating a ‘buzz’ within the roots community, filling their calendars, generating some publicity, and getting their name out there. Other considerations include emerging talent, creativity, originality, potential draw, etc. Artists of interest will be contacted prior to Nov 30, 2011.
