Motto

We can use our voice to change the world.

There is magic in our words.

What We Do (In Brief)

  • We typically produce at least two major music events per year. Our showcase presentation, Toronto's Winterfolk Roots and Blues Festival, now going into the 9th year.

  • Winterfolk finds paid work for over 100 artists, involves dozens of volunteers and includes community related music organizations.

  • We typically audition over 2000 artists annually for our varoius projects, including online submissions and press kits sent to our office, and a series of live auditions in five cities, and two of our board members run weekly open stages.

  • We produce one or two compilation CD’s per year. Tracks are selected from artist submissions received from all over the world.  Our CD’s have received airplay all over the world.

  • We give all funds generated from CD sales to charitible organizations.

  • We use the majority of funds collected from submission fees are used to pay artists for live performances.

How We Do It

  • We create opportunities for artists offering them live audiences, world wide radio, press, exposure, publicity, which create more opportunities in their career.

  • We create public awareness of issues vital to our time through artistic expression.

  • We encourage artists to write and perform themes of a better world through their artform.

  • We inform the public about real-word issues through the voices of contributing artists, to enhance overall awareness of social and ecological issues.

  • We involve members of the community, charities, and artists, and get them working together for a better world.

  • We organize and produce compilation albums, festivals, fundraisers, concerts, and projects within the community which further our missions statement.

  • We support organizations within our community both financially and by offering a public stage

  • We offer showcase opportunities for artists to further their career through publicity, recognition, and exposure.

What We Don't Do

  • We don't advocate nor associate with any political parties, nor do we align ourselves with politicians.

  • We don't participate in marches, protests, movements, or any form of public demonstrations.

  • We don't publish papers, offer speeches, take a public stance, derive official policies, nor offer opions on important issues. We believe the artform conveys the messages, and encourage our audience to do whatever actions work for them.
